To be a member of the Historic Hotels of America, you have to meet a few criteria. You have to be at least 50 years old. You must “have been designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places; and you must be recognized as having historic significance.” You don’t necessarily have to be haunted, but it doesn’t hurt, and will probably help.
