Star Parties take place at the Tonopah Stargazing Park located at the end of Ray Tennant Drive. The Park features concrete pads, benches, and tables. Telescopes, binoculars, and iPads with stargazing apps will be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring their own equipment.

No reservations are necessary. Everyone is welcome.

Parties have two themes: moon nights and dark skies

Moon nights allow attendees to see the moon up close and even connect their phones to the telescope to get a photo. Dark sky nights allow attendees to see up to 7,000 stars, constellations, and even the Milky Way.

Parties start at dusk

Calendar and Facebook event times are not accurate. Parties may be canceled at short notice due to weather. We are in the high desert at 6,000 feet elevation and nights get cold. Please dress accordingly.

Please follow signage to the Stargazing Park as map apps are inaccurate

Turn off Highway 95 by the Beans and Brews/76 Gas Station onto Ray Tennant Drive. Continue straight until the pavement ends. Keep going onto the dirt road straight ahead. The Park is located to the right of this road just a few hundred feet away (you will notice a fenced area). There is ample parking.

Please keep in mind that your car lights are a disruption to stargazing. We encourage attendees to arrive at dusk.

Stargazing enthusiasts are encouraged to continue on the dirt road past the Stargazing Park to set up their equipment further away from lights.
