Art in Tonopah
Historic & Art Walking Tour
We are currently working on a Walking Tour Brochure to highlight our historic buildings, local businesses, murals, monuments, and statues. We will link the brochure here as soon as the project is completed.
Tonopah Arts Festival
Our Tonopah Arts Festival started as the Starry Nights Arts Festival in 2017. The event now takes place at the Tonopah Convention Center. It includes an artisan fair, free art projects for children and adults, live music, dance performances, etc. For more information about the event, click here.
Nevada Arts Council Basin to Range Exchange (BRX)
On August 7, 2019 Carson City and Tonopah launched a 10-month collaborative project as part of the Nevada Art Council’s Basin to Range Exchange (BRX) project, which pairs urban and rural entities to “support long-term structural change in communities across Nevada through strategic planning, community engagement, and artistic design.”
Carson and Tonopah were paired based on our similarities, as well as differences. Our collaboration received a $1,200 grant from the Nevada Arts Council to pay for some of our project expenses.
We will post monthly mashups of public art and art events on our social media accounts (pictured below), have online giveaways partnering with local businesses/breweries/ghost walks, and we will be exchanging art exhibits to be displayed at the Tonopah Convention Center and Carson City’s City Hall. The first exhibit from Carson City’s permanent collection to be displayed in Tonopah are 12 parasols.
On August 13, 2019, the first online giveaway of 150 limited edition stickers created by Empire 13 Design made specifically for the collaboration was posted. To get a sticker, email tourism@tonopahnevada.com with your name and mailing address while supplies last.
