Nestled in the heart of central Nevada, Tonopah is the perfect home base for all kinds of outdoor fun. Whether you’re into rockhounding, hiking scenic trails, spotting wildlife, biking through rugged terrain, off-roading across wide-open spaces, or enjoying a peaceful day of bird watching—Tonopah puts you right in the middle of it all. Interested in Hosting an Event at Tonopah’s Parks? Let Us Know!

Our parks are free and open for everyone to enjoy. If you’d like to reserve a park for your special event such as a family reunion, birthday party, wedding, sports tournament, community celebration, charity fundraiser, or school activity – just let us know!

Contact the Tonopah Convention Center Office at (775) 482-3558 or email tourism@tonopahnevada.com at least seven (7) business days prior your event. We’ll check availability, help with scheduling, and let you know if a ‘Use and Maintenance Agreement’ or if event insurance is needed. This also helps us know if we need to turn the water & power on and unlock the restrooms. We’re here to make sure everything is ready so you can enjoy your special day in our parks! For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please keep dogs on a leash at all times. Aggressive pets are not permitted.

Heritage Park

A welcoming community space that blends history with modern touches. The park honors the town’s mining heritage with features that nod to its past, while colorful murals bring our area to life. Visitors can enjoy a free little library for book sharing, and pet owners will appreciate the convenient doggy relief area. Whether you’re stopping by to relax, learn a bit of history, or enjoy a stroll with your four-legged friend, Heritage Park offers a little something for everyone in the heart of Tonopah. Liberty Park

Located on Black Mountain Court, Liberty Park offers a cozy neighborhood space with picnic tables, benches, a playground, and a small open field. The park is dog-friendly and a welcoming spot for families and friends. While there are no shaded structures, water, or restrooms, its peaceful setting is perfect for small to medium gatherings. Harvey Park

Located on Globemallow Lane, Harvey Park is a community space with something for everyone. Shaded picnic tables and benches offer a place to relax, though the park does not have water access, power, or restrooms.

The park features a wide-open field, playground, ballpark, disc golf course, and is dog-friendly, making it a favorite spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Exciting additions are on the way—new basketball courts, pickleball courts, and a skatepark are coming soon!

With space to accommodate small to large gatherings, Harvey Park is ideal for both casual visits and community events. Accessibility is fair, with walking paths.

Parking is available next to and around the park, but visitors are asked to be considerate and avoid parking in front of nearby homes. Get Directions

Clair Blackburn Memorial Stargazing Park

Home of the Tonopah Star Party

Located on Ray Tenant Lane, the Clair Blackburn Memorial Stargazing Park is a treasured place to experience Tonopah’s famously dark skies. As the home of the Tonopah Star Party, this unique park invites visitors to look up and connect with the night sky in a way few places can offer. (Check the schedule here.)

While the park does not include traditional amenities such as water, restrooms, or electricity, it is thoughtfully equipped for stargazing gatherings. Concrete pads, benches, tables, and a fenced area provide comfortable spots for setting up telescopes or simply sitting back to enjoy the view.

The park is best suited for small to medium gatherings. The grounds are gravel, with a dirt road and dirt parking area leading in, and there are no paved walking paths or shaded structures. Parking is available next to and around the park.

Whether you’re attending a star party or visiting on your own, the Clair Blackburn Memorial Stargazing Park offers a setting to marvel at the wonders of the night sky. You can find directions on this page

Jim Butler Park

Located on Mizpah Circle, Jim Butler Park is a favorite community gathering space. Visitors will find shaded picnic tables, benches, a BBQ pit, water access, restrooms, and electricity.

The park offers plenty of room to play and explore, with an open field, playground, basketball court, and a fenced area that’s both family- and dog-friendly. Whether it’s a small get-together or a larger community celebration, Jim Butler Park is ready to welcome you.

The park features walking paths and a shaded structure. Parking is available next to and around the park, though guests are encouraged to be mindful of nearby homes when choosing a spot. Get Directions

Barsanti Park / Tonopah Memorial Swimming Pool

Located on Bryan Avenue, Barsanti Park is a welcoming green space where families, friends, and visitors can gather and enjoy the outdoors. Shaded by natural trees, the park features picnic tables, benches, BBQ pits, water access, restrooms, and electricity, making it a comfortable spot for both casual afternoons and special events.

Its open field is perfect for community gatherings, and younger visitors will love the playground. The park is dog-friendly, so four-legged friends are welcome too. The hilly terrain, walking paths and tree cover create a natural, relaxing atmosphere.

Barsanti Park can accommodate both small get-togethers and larger celebrations, with parking conveniently located across the street. Get Directions

Tonopah Fairgrounds & Arena

The Rodeo Grounds are a separate facility (next to the OHV Staging Area) designed for equestrian and rodeo activities, community events, and livestock shows. The site includes an arena with bleacher seating, corrals, livestock pens, and announcer facilities.

The grounds can host traditional rodeos, roping events, riding exhibitions, and other cultural or community gatherings. With open space and infrastructure tailored to horses and livestock, the Rodeo Grounds function as a dedicated venue for Western heritage events and community celebrations.

OHV Staging Area

OHV Staging Area

The OHV Staging Area provides a dedicated space for off-highway vehicle riders to gather, prepare, and access nearby trails. The site is designed with easy entry and exit points for trucks and trailers, as well as ample parking to accommodate multiple users. Amenities may include loading/unloading zones, restrooms, shaded picnic areas, and informational signage about local trail systems, safety, and rules. This staging area serves as a central hub for riders before setting out to explore Tonopah’s terrain!

Patriots Park

Patriot Park - Charters of Freedom

Located on Main Street, Patriots Park is home to the Tonopah Charters of Freedom and the Jim and Belle Butler Statue. This small park offers a covered picnic table and walking paths.

Visitors will also find a Tesla charging station and the Tonopah Information Center nearby, making it a convenient and welcoming rest stop. While not suited for gatherings, Patriots Park provides a quiet place to pause and reflect. Parking is limited in the area.

Bob Perchetti Memorial Sportsmans Park

Home of the Annual Tonopah Kids Fishing Derby.


Bob Perchetti Memorial Sportsman’s Park is well-suited for gatherings of all sizes, from small get-togethers to larger community events. The park features covered picnic tables, benches, BBQ grills, and restrooms.

While shaded structures provide relief from the sun, please note that there are no walking paths, and most of the area consists of dirt and grass, with a slight incline down to the water’s edge. Parking is abundant. An upgraded playground will be coming soon! Get Directions

Joe Friel Sports Complex

Located on Ray Tenant Lane (next to Tonopah High School)
Complex amenities include covered picnic tables, benches, bleachers, BBQ grills, water access, water fountains, restrooms, and electricity. Features include three baseball fields with concessions stand, state sanctioned horseshoe pits and the Anne Tomany playground/park.

Joe Friel Sports Complex is capable of hosting medium or large gatherings. Accessibility is good, with shaded structures but no walking paths; ADA access is limited, and the area is mostly dirt, grass, and gravel. Parking is abundant in the area. Get Directions

Near The Area

The Tonopah Ranger District is the largest ranger district in the lower 48 states.

The district encompasses 1.12 million acres on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The Toiyabe Mountain range is a 125-mile “spinelike” range with 50 miles of it rising above 10,000 feet. Extending from Cottonwood Canyon in the south to 6 miles north of Austin, Nevada, this rugged range has limited access due to its terrain. Located in Peavine Canyon, on the southeastern side of the Toiyabe Mountain Range.

Alta Toquima Wilderness Area

The Alta Toquima Wilderness is located within the Toquima Mountain Range in Central Nevada. This Wilderness Area hosts the tallest peak in Central Nevada, Mount Jefferson, 11,900 feet. Table Mountain Wilderness Area

Table Mountain is located along the Table Mountain Range, east of Alta Toquima Wilderness and north of the McKinney Mountains of Central Nevada. With an average elevation just over 10,000 feet Table Mountain Wilderness offers much more than the high altitude found in the neighboring Wilderness Areas. Over ten miles long and several miles wide, the Wilderness Area contains one of Nevada’s largest continuous stands of Aspen.  Learn more » 

Arc Dome Wilderness Area

Situated in the southern portion of the Toiyabe Range, Arc Dome Wilderness Area offers breathtaking vistas, seemingly endless trails, and spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities. The Wilderness Areas’ main attraction is the National Recreation Toiyabe Crest Trail.  Learn more »

Berlin-Ichthyosaur

This Park is home to the most abundant concentration, and largest known remains, of Ichthyosaurs, an ancient marine reptile that swam in a warm ocean that covered Central Nevada 225 million years ago. This Park also contains a True Nevada Ghost Town with many original buildings preserved in a state of arrested decay.
