Friends of the Belmont Courthouse

Just 45 minutes from Tonopah, you’ll find the historic Belmont Courthouse—beautifully preserved thanks to the nonprofit Friends of the Belmont Courthouse, who work tirelessly to restore and protect it.

Belmont, Nevada, is a fascinating living ghost town in Nye County, once a booming silver mining hub and now a charming glimpse into the past. Many of its original buildings still stand, telling the story of its vibrant 19th-century heyday.

Visitors can enjoy a self-guided walking tour through town, stop in at the legendary “Dirty Dick’s Saloon,” and, between May and September, join a guided tour of the Courthouse on select weekends. It’s a perfect spot to step back in time and explore Nevada’s wild and colorful history!
