Tonopah Historic Mining Park
The Tonopah Historic Mining Park, where Mining History Comes alive!
Explore more than 100 acres of Mining History – buildings, artifacts, mine shafts, drop-offs, cave-ins, and even a tunnel! It truly is like stepping back in time.
Peer down into the 500 foot deep stope and feel your heart beat just a little faster!
The Mizpah Mine Shaft has been restored, covered with a grate, and illuminated with a huge LED light. Stand on the grate, look directly down, and your breath will catch as you realize you can’t quite see the bottom!
The Visitor’s Center has a bookstore, gift shop, displays, a large mineral collection (including rocks that fluoresce!) and a movie theater where you can view a short 20 minute film on the history of Tonopah. The film gives you a better understanding of what the miners went through (tough as nails and twice as strong!) and how the rich silver was brought up from the depths. Then head out on your adventure! There is a self-guided tour, or you can schedule a two-hour guided Polaris tour.
