The Tonopah Volunteer Fire Department has a long time tradition of protecting our community.
For over 100 years, community spirited citizens like yourself have served in the time honored
tradition as a Tonopah volunteer Fire Fighter. The Tonopah volunteer Fire Department has
exceptional men and women dedicated to protecting our community. The service of a volunteer
fire fighter has the same education and responsibilities as required of a paid fire fighter.

Are you interested in becoming a member of the Tonopah Volunteer Fire Department?

Ask yourself the following questions?

 Do I have the time to dedicate three (3) Tuesday evenings a month to training?

Most training sessions last 2-3 hours. Weekend
training sessions do occur from time to time.

 Am I physically fit to pass a medical examination and treadmill certification?

We are faced with extreme physical demands during
firefighting and rescue operations. Just to be on the
side of caution, we are provided with a medical
examination annually.

 Do you have a good driving record and are you of good character?

All TVFD members are required to hold a current
Nevada Driver’s License and must attain a Class B license with an F endorsement to operate fire trucks.

All TVFD members are subject to a background check.

 Have you consulted with your family on this interest?

We know volunteering can be trying on your family.
Talk to them first about this commitment!

 Emergencies occur at anytime of the day or night!

We need volunteers that can make a dedicated
commitment! When a fire fighter does not respond, the
community suffers, but also the fire fighters responding
take greater risk to accomplish an already dangerous
job with fewer personnel.

If you have made the decision to serve as a volunteer firefighter, fill out our application,
then you can sign up by any one of the following methods:

If you know someone who is a member of the TVFD, tell them you are interested and would like to join.
Call the Fire House (775-482-3926) and leave your name and return telephone number.
You are welcome to attend our training meetings on each Tuesday evening at 7:30
(we do not meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month) at the Fire House (Station 2).
